Color & Quality: What to Expect
The color of your wood pellets can vary naturally, ranging from pale blonde to warm brown, depending on the species of wood used in production.
- Lighter Pellets (Typically Higher Quality): Generally, pellets with a lighter, blonde color are considered higher quality.
- The Douglas Fir Exception: Don’t let a slight color change fool you! Pellets made from Douglas Fir often have a slightly reddish hue and are consistently ranked among the best wood pellets available.
- A Word of Caution: Be wary of pellets that are excessively dark—think darker than a cup of black coffee. A very dark color can be a sign that bark was mixed into the process, which usually leads to a higher ash content and a less efficient burn. We guarantee our pellets meet high standards for low ash.
Size and Length Consistency
All our wood pellets share a consistent diameter, but the length can naturally range from $0.25$ to about $1.5$ inches.
- Functionality: Most modern pellet stoves are designed to handle this normal range of pellet lengths without issue.
- Troubleshooting Tip: If you notice longer pellets causing a jam in your specific stove, here is a simple trick: gently drop the bag of pellets on the ground once or twice before loading the fuel. This can help break down the length and ensure smooth operation.
Density for Optimal Performance
The high efficiency of pellet stoves relies on the uniform nature of the fuel. Our wood pellets are properly condensed to guarantee a consistent and reliable burn.
While there is a natural, acceptable variance in density across brands or even between individual bags, you can be absolutely confident in ATOZ Wood Group. All of our manufacturers are committed to producing a consistent, high-quality pellet that delivers maximum heat with minimum fuss.
